When internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Jason Ringenberg created his children’s music character, Farmer Jason, in 2003, he had no idea that what he was launching what would prove to be the most commercially successful creation of his storied career.
With Jason and The Scorchers, he broke new ground with the fusion of punk rock and country- turning the music world on its ear in the mid-1980s.
However, with two sweet, beautiful, preschool daughters missing Daddy Jason during his 200 dates a year touring schedule, Jason wanted to make a CD that his kids could listen to while he was out globetrotting. Since they lived on a small farm near Bon Aqua, Tennessee, and Jason grew up on an Illinois hog farm, he reckoned that a roots oriented CD about farming and farm animals was just the ticket.
Nature Jams featuring Hank Williams III, Tom Peterson of Cheap Trick, Brandi Carlile, Alison Brown, Suzy Boggus, Iris Dement, Mike Mills of REM, Terrance Simien, Todd Snider, Webb Wilder, Victor Wooten, Ruthie Foster, Jason and the Scorchers, and The Saw Doctors (from Ireland). The Nature Conservancy will partially benefit from CD sales. Universal Music will launch their Kazoo Music Children’s Division with Nature Jams.
“Rousing songs about forest critters, by a former rock singer, encourage tykes to exercise their muscles and educate their minds.” – Parenting
“Each song is different and has a captivating story to keep children’s attention and educate at the same time. The introductions to the songs add some insight too. It’s catchy, clever, funny, musically interesting, and definitely worth danceworthy.” – New York Magazine (rating 10 out of 10)
