The theme of abstraction in art has united two Winston-Salem organizations and a dozen local artists in a unique artistic partnership. The Enrichment Center invited artists, including artists with disablities, to respond to the exhibition Modern Masters from the Smithsonian American Art Museum on view at Reynolda House Museum of American Art this fall. An exhibition in the Womble Carlyle Gallery of the Arts Council’s Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts will present the culmination of their explorations of the categories in the Reynolda House exhibition: “Significant Gestures” (abstract expressionism), “Optics and Order” (geometric abstraction), and “New Images of Man” (abstractions that retain the human figure).
Participating local artists include: Shanthony Exum, Andrew Fansler, Matt, Groce, Laura Lashley, and Jason Lancaster, and Jae Pitt. Artist representing the Enrichment Center are April Anders, Emily Caldwell, Chris Cuthrell, Josh Lawrence, Adam Leferve, Kenneth McMahan, Marjorie Waser, and Valarie Williams.
